A Civilian’s Contemplation

-by Shrujan Kanabar

As I tread along this brave
Forest, on the brink of survival
The frustrating rattling of beetles pave
In my mind, a hope for revival

But, of it, I am soon devoid
As I find no more shades around
Leaving in me, a further a deeper void
The deafening cry of complete isolation, so loud

The sand beneath me burn my feet
And the sun above me, tortures, relentlessly
And my mouth longs for sugar beet
And I remember how excruciatingly

I’ve lived my past few days
I wonder, how, came upon, such an abnormality
Out of all the possible ways
For mankind itself shadows it’s own reality
